Larry Wayne Hyde

In Memoriam of Larry W. Hyde, 76, of Taneytown, MD, peaceful passing on March 25, 2020, at Sinai Hospital’s Seasons Hospice in Baltimore, Maryland, surrounded by loved ones. A man of humble beginnings who lived his own version of the American Dream. “A Life Well Lived by A Man Well Loved” Larry was born on March 18, 1944, to the late Raymond and Mildred Hyde in Hanover, PA. He was no Captain of Industry, but a “Captain of the Best in Humanity.” A man who proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964 to 1970 during the Vietnam War — representing the military’s formidable boots on the ground. Following service to his country, Larry worked at Eastalco Aluminum Company for 29 years as a general foreman of aluminum manufacturing in Frederick, MD. Central to Larry’s life existence was his love, devotion and dedication to his family: wife, Trine; two daughters: Stacy (Lloyd) Mayuga of Upper Marlboro, MD; and Laken (Justin) Smitley of Fairfield, PA. As a proud Grandfather, he leaves as his legacies Vincent (Amber) E. Reaver Jr. of Emmitsburg, MD; Jon, Connor, Maddie and Hunter Mayuga; Laila White; Kiana and Dominic Smitley; as well as great grandsons: Tres, Carter and Max Reaver. Although he never had a son, Larry drilled into his daughters’ heads —“Anything a boy can do, a girl can do better.” A feminist before feminism became a movement. Larry also is survived by four sisters and nieces/nephew. At the end of life, Larry had his priorities straight and business in order. A family united, strong and filled with great admiration for his selfless acts of love in limitless volumes throughout his 47 years as a grandfather, father, and husband. He passes from this life but to forever dwell in the hearts of his greatest life works --- his daughters and grandchildren. Considered a hero by his family, expressing “There is no greater father. He is the most loyal friend, companion and guardian God could have blessed those who had the honor and privilege of knowing. Proud, but never prideful or spiteful, exercising humility in all aspects of his being. “One of the greatest Servants of God, a beacon of love, hope and positivity. Never giving up — giving unconditional love, support and inspiration through all of life’s peaks and valleys. The void left with your passing is an unrecoverable heartbreak. You are forever loved. We honor your memory by living the example you taught us of love, strength, honor and duty. Thank you, Dad.” In close, a salute to his life mantra, “Once A Marine, Always A Marine!” A celebration of his life will held in May (official date to be determined). Please check back for updates.
