Jason A. Hagan

Jason A. Hagan, aka ‘Spicy McHaggis’ of Millsboro, Delaware, suddenly slipped away into the starry galaxies where many have gone before him on July 26, 2026. He was a force of nature, and the force remains with Jason as he voyages into his last unexplored territory. He loved the Northern Lights and basked under the glow of the stars when he lived in Presque Isle, Maine. Jason attended Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, DE and graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1999. Jason was well-known for his humor, antics, and his artfully crafted Halloween costumes that once awarded him an all-expense paid trip to Cancun. He also had a yearning to help those down on their luck and so often, he gave the last few dollars in his pocket to someone in need. Jason called it, “doing his good deed for the day.” Jason was a huge fan of horror/sci-fi movies and music that spanned numerous genres. His moniker, Spicy McHaggis, was derived from his days as a DJ at the University of Maine campus where he studied marine biology. He honed his culinary skills and was employed at several venues as a sous chef. He later honed his skill as a construction worker for Morgan Builders in Wilmington, DE after his return from Maine in 2005. In 2007, Jason met the love of his life, Jessica Morgan, and they were engaged to marry at the time of his passing. Jason joined the Delaware Army National Guard in 2008 and was in training to be a Combat Medic (68W). Much to his dismay, he was medically-discharged in 2009 due to chronic high blood pressure, which plagued him throughout his life. Jason is survived by his fiancée, Jessica Morgan, his mother, Regina Walsh-Tucker, of Millsboro, DE, his brother, LTC Jarred A. Hagan (Samanda) of San Antonio, TX, his step-brothers, Travis (Corrie) Downs of Magnolia, DE, Benjamin Downs of Georgetown, DE, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces from Maryland to Massachusetts and his beloved canine child, Echo. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Joseph A. & Denise Hagan, of El Dorado, KS, paternal grandmother, Ann E. Baker, of Magnolia, DE, maternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Tucker Taylor, of Dover, DE, paternal grandfather, H. James Calhoun, of Dover, DE, and his youngest brother, Ryan P. Hogan, of Holmes, PA. On August 9, 2026, a Celebration of Life was held for family and friends to honor Jason. It was a glorious sunny day at the Chesapeake Inn in Chesapeake City, MD where we said farewell to Jason, a son, fiancé, brother and friend who departed this world too soon.
