Jacqueline Ford Stone

Jacqui, born on May 17, 1947, passed away peacefully at her home in Riva, Maryland, on February 3, 2026, at the age of 78. She grew up in Syracuse, New York, where her early love of ballet, learning and adventure began. After earning her undergraduate degree from Lycoming College and her graduate degree from the College of William & Mary, she dedicated her life to education, teaching mathematics at William & Mary in Virginia, the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland, and the University of Maryland. Her passion for teaching and her patient, thoughtful approach left a lasting impression on countless students. Beyond her academic achievements, Jacqui lived life with energy and curiosity. She loved playing tennis, pickleball, ice skating, and boating. Traveling byu Ranger Tug down to Florida was one of her most adventurous and meaningful pursuits, blending her love of the water with her joy in exploration. As a senior, she especially delighted in competing a a figure skater, a testament to her enduring spirit and joy in motion. She was deeply involved in P.E.O., where she found great joy in caring for other women, supporting their educational journeysm and quietly giving her time and energy to help others thrive. She also cherished traveling, especially when it meant visiting family and friends near and far. Trips to Europe held a special place in her heart, where she found joy in old cultures, food, and the simple pleasure of sharing those experiences with the people she loved. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Jim her brother, Ron, and Gregoria in North Carolina her sister, Patti, and Rob in Florida her son, Jeff, and Ina in Germany her daughter, Lindsey, and Tim in Northern Virginia her sister-in-law, Sandi, in California her sister-in-law, Sheila, and Matt in Florida her brother-in-law, Doug, and Peg in Ohio Her Family and friends will Remember her warm personality, thoughtfulness, humour and kindness, and she will be greatly missed by us all. On the eve of her passing, with her ever-hopeful belief, she said simply, "I want a new home" - not one of brick and mortar, but a reflection of the faith she held so dearly.
