Jaclyn Anise Lacy

Remembering Jaclyn A. Lacy Jaclyn Anise Lacy was an only child, born May 15, 1968 in Washington, DC. She loved to celebrate her birthday, everybody else’s birthday, and every holiday and special day on the calendar. These occasions gave her a chance to plan, decorate or cook for the event and invite others to join in. Her famous words, “Aren’t you coming over?” will be forever missed. Jaclyn's father and step-father preceded her in death. She was baptized in 1978 at Nineteenth Street Baptist Church in Washington, DC, where she participated in the church school, Vacation Bible School, Girl Scout Troop and other activities. She also served on the Junior and Senior Usher Boards. As a youth, she enjoyed working at the National Zoo, overnight summer camp, and day camp at the YWCA. She also enjoyed piano lessons, dance classes, and visits to museums and art galleries. Flying a kite on the grounds of the National Mall was an all-time favorite summertime event. She was especially proud of her volunteer work at a nursing home in Adelphi, MD, where she assisted residents with shopping, knitting, and reading. She was also very proud of having completed a class with the American Red Cross. Jaclyn graduated from North Point High School in 1986 and in 2002 she completed her studies, with honors, at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. She worked for the Department of Defense, National Security Agency, where she held various positions since 1986. On October 31, 1994, Jaclyn married the love of her life, Norman, whom she affectionately called “Normit.” For twenty-one years, “Normit” lovingly endured the “Aren’t you coming overs?” and helped his beloved Jaclyn make preparations for the upcoming occasions. Jaclyn enjoyed planning their vacations, which included cruises and travel in and out of the USA. She loved art, music, dancing, board games, and just being home … with “Normit.” Jaclyn really enjoyed and eagerly anticipated a return trip to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. During Jaclyn’s illness, “Normit” was her faithful and loving caregiver, for which he assumed full responsibility for the care of his beloved wife. Jaclyn passed away early Friday morning, January 22, 2016, at home, in Odenton, MD. She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Norman Jones, Jr; mother, June L. Jackson; mother-in-law, Victoria L. Jones; Father-in-law, Norman Jones, Sr. (Lorna); Cousins: Angela Trice, Early Trice (Melissa), Uniqca Powell (Leroy, Sr.), James L. Tutton, Sr. (Shakirah); Deloris Jean Thomas, Henry James Wright, Helen Dorsey (Edward), and Joan Johnson (Herbert), and a host of other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at LaFontaine Bleue, Glen Burnie, MD.
