Jackie Lyle Owens

Jackie (Jack) Lyle Owens, 75, went home to be with the Lord on March 01, 2026, with his loving family gathered by his side. Born on September 01, 1950 in Grundy, Virginia. He was the son of the late Lacy and Hassie Owens. He was one of nine children. He attended Grundy High School. Jack married the love of his life, Sandra Owens. He spent 50 happy years together. They were married 26 of these wonderful years. They reside in Hanover, Maryland. He loved collecting hot wheel cars, baseball cards and hats of all kinds. HYe had a love for old cars. He loved gon to car meets and looking at all the different cars on the lot. He was always looking forward to the trips traveling on vacation to Ocean City with his family. Also loved visiting family and friends in Tennessee. Jack loved watching TV. His favorite shows were Mash, westerns and tv game shows. But most of all he loved spending time with his only granddaughter and great-granddaughter. They were his pride and joy and loved them with all of his heart. He loved going to church and listening to Bluegrass music. His favorite hymn was Peace In the Valley which was played for him just before he went home to be with Jesus. He also loved to hear Go Rest High on that Mountain. Jack worked at American Paving, Inc. fo 30 years plus. He was well known in the paving industry. Jack was a member of International Pentecostal Church of Christ in Millersville, Maryland and attended regularly. He loved going to church. He had a "Special" Pastor that was there for him anytime day or night. She spent a lot of time with him and won his heart to Jesus. He always called her "Preacher Lady". Jack loved to eat and she made sure he was well fed at our church luncheons and dinners. She always had him set with her and her family. She called him "Hillbilly" because of his long beard and because he was raised in the mountains of Virginia. Her name is Pastor Paula Hoke-Ludlum. Jack was well loved by all at his church family. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Owens of Hanover, MD. His daughter, Gretchen Owens of Hanover, MD. Granddaughter, Harlee Marie Owens and Fiance, Dylan of Dandridge, TN. Great-Granddaughter, Callie Sage of Danridge, TN. He had a "Special" young man that was like a son to him and was his sidekick who always gave him a helping hand, Juan Sanchez (Rooster) of Hanover, MD, a sister, Vanessa Merritt, of Georgia and Brother Mike Owens of Florida. Two childhood best friends, Gary Forrester Sr. and Henry Jackson (Skunk) both of Grundy, Virginia. Many nieces and nephews and many many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings. At Jack's request, his body will be cremated. For all memorial contributions, please contact his daughter, Gretchen Owens.
