Doris Luvenia Ellwood

Doris Luvenia Ellwood of Jessup, MD, born April 26, 1933, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 5, 2022. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Ellwood worked at the Larchdale Woods Apartments for many years, until she became the full time caregiver to her beloved husband, Francis H. Ellwood. After his passing, Doris made the most out of every day. She was always grocery shopping, cleaning apartments, or making meals for those in need. She never hesitated to grab her keys and head out the door when someone needed a ride to a medical appointment, to pick up a prescription or to go visit a family member or friend. Doris never referred to anyone as a stranger. Everyone she met immediately became someone she loved. The word “no” was never part of her vocabulary. Regardless of how busy she was, if you needed her, she was there! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, extended family member, who would drop everything to be there for anyone who needed her. Doris loved God and her family and friends with “all of her heart”, and she never ended a phone call or a visit without saying the Lord’s prayer. Survivors include her daughter, Susan G. Ellwood Drapeau, and her son, Shawn F. Ellwood (Melissa). She was an aunt/mother who raised Kathryn Ellwood, Valorie Ellwood Butler, and Judith Ellwood Hartenstein. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ed (Mary), Mike (Margie), Carrie, Lindsey, Erin, and Alex; and seven great grandchildren, Brenden, Celeste, Frankie, Sam, Ryan, Olivia, and Zyon. Doris is preceded in death by her father, John F. Johnston; mother, Myrtle Fagan Johnston; beloved husband, Francis H. Ellwood; sister, Mildred Johnston Busch; and brother, John F. Johnston, Jr. Cremation services were provided by Simplicity Cremation & Funeral Services, 244 8th Ave., NW, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Life Service and Interment which will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 7231 Ritchie Hwy., Glen Burnie, MD 21061, on Friday, 5/27/2022 at 11:00 AM.
