Denise Michele Kasparites-Urgiles

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Denise Michele Kasparites-Urgiles , who passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 13, 1963. She is survived by her loving mother, Mary Hudock; her daughter, Candace Shreve, and son-in-law, Justin Shreve; her son, Philip Kasparites; and her three grandchildren, Grayson Shreve, Savanah Shreve, and Gabby Shreve, who were truly the center of her world. To know her was to love her. She never met a stranger and could walk into a room full of people and somehow leave with everyone smiling, laughing, or telling stories alongside her. She was outgoing, talkative, funny, and had a personality that people were naturally drawn to. Some admired her, some wanted to be around her constantly, but nobody forgot her once they met her. She was a hardworking woman in every sense of the word. Even during her illness, she hated sitting still and always talked about wanting to get back to work. She could not stand being taken care of because she was always the caretaker — the helper, the giver, the person everyone called when they needed comfort, advice, or just someone to listen. If she had one dollar left and someone else needed it more, she would hand it over without hesitation. That was simply who she was. She gave freely, loved deeply, and worried more about everyone else than she ever did herself. She also had a lifelong love for animals, especially cats. Ever since she was a little girl bringing kittens home, there was always at least one rescue animal by her side. She could never ignore an animal in pain and would go out of her way to help any creature that needed care. In true fashion, even after being bitten in the face while trying to save a choking dog, it still never stopped her from helping animals afterward. Her beloved cats, Lele and Kitten, were family to her and remained close to her heart until the very end. Lele, her loyal companion of more than 15 years, passed away only weeks before she did. Many who knew her believe she held on just long enough to be reunited with her best friend again. She loved reading and was always eager to share something new she had learned. Toward the end of her life, she discovered TikTok and fully embraced it. Whether it was funny stories, strange home remedies, protection spells, ways to get rid of ants, or little tricks she swore everyone needed to know, she always had something new she couldn’t wait to share. “Candace, listen to this…” became a phrase heard often and lovingly. She was silly, compassionate, stubborn, beautiful, generous beyond measure, and impossible not to love. She spent her life taking care of others — people and animals alike — and left behind countless memories full of laughter, advice, chaos, warmth, and love. She is now reunited in heaven with her grandmother, Mary Louise Stotler; her grandfather, Vernon L Stotler; her father, William L Hudock; and surely many beloved animals waiting to greet her, including Lele and Kitten. Though her family’s hearts are broken, they find comfort knowing her love, stories, laughter, and spirit will live on through everyone lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and never forgotten.
