William Herbert Posey

William Herbert Posey was born June 11, 1943, to the late William Posey and Lenora Elizabeth Brown in Washington, DC. He was a native Washingtonian educated in D.C. Public Schools, graduating with honors from McKinley High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from DC Teachers College in History and Education. He taught in District of Columbia public schools. He also taught at PG County public schools as a substitute teacher. His last job was a school bus driver in Prince George's County Public Schools, which he loved. William also worked in the Federal Government and was an entrepreneur for many years during his career. Billy, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, traveled extensively in Canada, Puerto Rico, Maine, and the Southern States. He was fluent in Spanish, a dog breeder, and an avid enthusiast and collector of miniature Lionel trains. He had a long-time dream of becoming a pilot and eventually earned his pilot's license and learned how to fly small planes. He also became interested in parachuting and fulfilled that dream as well. Besides being an avid reader and write, a little-known fact is that Billy was a self-published authority on Amazon of "R is for Race." Billy was active in Catholic Church and for many years very active with social justice programs in the District of Columbia. Billy was married in 1971 to the late Noel Lois Richardson and welcomed daughters Ellen and Colleen. He would later marry the late Julie Posey in 1979, whom he remained married to until her passing in 2006. William Herbert Post is preceded in death by his wife, Julie Posey, his mother, Lenora Elizabeth Eubanks, his father, William Posey; his uncle John Herbert Brown; and his brother, Jesse Maurice Eubanks. He leaves to celebrate his life, children: Ellen Camille Barrett and Colleen Posey-Nelson. His siblings; Eileen Camille Corey, Clifton Lamont Posey, Lilibelle Victoria Dargan, Dedrick Anthony Posey, Elvira Gertrude Posey, Fredericka Sally-Noel Eubanks Shaw, and Carolyn Lenora Eubanks; Grandchildren: Ashlea, Tiffani, Rachel, Zaria, Kannon, and Kynnedi; Great-Grandchildren: Khoen and Kenya; and a host of relatives and friends.
