Wanda Jean Stoner

Mrs. Wanda Jean Stoner, 71, of Laurel, MD passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at her home. A private Celebration of Life and a Burial at Ivy Hill will take place. Wanda was born at the Warren Clinic in Laurel, MD to Mr. James Norris Beard and Agnes Kionka Beard on September 29, 1945. She grew up in Laurel, MD attending Elementary, Jr. High, and High School there. She married Robert Lee Stoner on December 12th 1964. They had two children. She worked some retail, but was mostly a stay at home mother until she did Day Care at her residence. She loved those children so much she still spoke stories of them today and kept in touch with many of them. In past years Wanda and her husband Bob traveled abroad and enjoyed many cruises. Wanda and Bob loved attending wine festivals, even working at some to sell their own special around the neck wineglass holders. During recent retirement years Wanda and Bob did extensive volunteer work in the community with fund raisers and monthly breakfasts at the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department Hall. They were active members of Howard County’s North Laurel Community Center where walking, socializing, and bake sales were their enjoyment. Wanda loved to garden and cook. Her favorite shows were Dancing With The Stars, The Voice, Game Shows, Ravens Football, and Golf Tournaments. If you were lucky you could catch her dancing in the kitchen to that of fifties rock and roll. However, we believe her true passion was her Grandchildren. Anytime she could schedule sleep overs, play cards, other games and even barbies with them she would. They were her pride and joy. She will be truly missed as she was a very caring, thoughtful and loving person. Wanda Stoner is preceded in death by James Beard (Father), Agnes Beard (Mother), Cynthia Gray (Sister), and Bob Stoner (Husband). Wanda Stoner is survived by her son Larry Stoner and wife Lissa, her son Tony Stoner and wife Darelyn, and three grandchildren: Colten, Amanda, and Fallon Stoner and many close relatives and friends. In honor of Wanda Stoner and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department.
