Robert James Spoon

Robert James Spoon, age 62, of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away after a long, incredible journey marked by resilience, strength, love, and an unyielding sense of humor. Born in South Baltimore, Maryland on December 31, 1963, Robert was the son of Robert S. Spoon, who preceded him in death in 1997, and his loving mother, Delores M. Spoon. Robert was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He married the love of his life, Donna J. Spoon, on September 10, 1983, knowing from the moment they met that they were meant to spend their lives together. Their marriage was the foundation of a family built on love, laughter, and fierce devotion. He was the proud father of two children, Heather C. Spoon, who preceded him in death in 2019, and Bradley J. Spoon. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna; his son, Bradley; his son-in-law, Edward Lomash; and his cherished granddaughter, Kennedy C. Spoon-Lomash, who brought him immense joy (and fake cookies from her kitchen play-set). Robert is also survived by his mother, Delores, and his three older sisters, Cindy Henson, Denise Culotta, and Jamie Windsor, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Additionally, he leaves behind a number of extended family members (nieces, nephews, and sister-in-laws) who he loved very much and who helped support his healing over the years. A survivor for nearly 22 years following a traumatic brain injury, Robert's spirit never dimmed. He was known to light up any room with his humor, genuine kindness, and comforting charm. He loved making people laugh and famously answered to just about anything—as long as he wasn't called "late for dinner." He proudly called himself "The Top of the Crop," while always reminding everyone around him that they were, too. Before his injury at 39 years old, Robert was selfless, unconditionally accepting, deeply protective of those he loved, and the kind of man who would quite literally give you the shirt off his back. His love for his family burned strong and constant. When his children told him "I love you," his response was always the same: "/ love you more than life itself. " Even after his injury, Robert never stopped asking if there was something he could do to make life a little easier for others—even when those around him knew he could not. Robert believed music was a universal language and loved to sing. Close your eyes, and it would feel as though Brooks & Dunn were right there in the room. A lifelong hard worker, Robert began as a skilled mechanic before becoming an entrepreneur and the owner of a successful landscaping business. His greatest motivation was always providing the very best for his family—and in the end, he did exactly that. Robert will be cremated at Simplicity Cremations and Funeral Services in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
