Patricia Anne Zoccola

Patricia “Patti” Anne Zoccola, 78, of Linthicum Heights, Maryland passed away on 25 March 2024 at Arcadia of Crofton II, Gambrills, Maryland. Born on 14 March 1946 in Nottingham, England, UK she was the daughter of Brenda and John Lilley, DFC. She had a younger brother, David Lilley who still lives in England with his family. She was interested in theatre and drama, performing the role of stage manager at Nottingham Playhouse, and met people who went onto become famous; most notably of these were Dame Judi Dench, Peter Bowles and Michael Crawford, who she dated for a short time. However, Patti graduated from Clarendon College, Nottingham in 1964 with a diploma in Administrative and Secretarial studies where she went onto apply her skills in the areas of Marketing and Personal Assistance across a number of sectors, most recently Real Estate, until her retirement in 2014. In March 1966, she came to the United States of America as a Nanny and quickly made friends with Donna and George Sanborn. It was through this friendship that she met the man who was to become her husband, George Thomas Maguire, of Houston, Texas. Together they had two children; Michael Lee Maguire (5 March 1968) and Caren Renee Maguire (28 April 1970) and spent about 15 years living in New Jersey. In 1985 Patti and George separated and later she went onto marry James Francis Zoccola and together they relocated to Aiken, South Carolina. It was here that she met Linda and Paul Neiswander and their friendship provided strength, comfort, and laughter to them both over many years throughout many of life’s challenges. James passed away in June 2020 and Patti moved to Maryland in 2022 to be nearer to her son, Michael. She had a passion for life and enjoyed seeing people be happy. She was known for her fantastic cooking and the ability to create a warm and welcoming social circle underpinned by a great sense of fun and humour. An intimate funeral service will be held on Friday 12 April at a private location. She will be deeply missed by her son Michael, and daughter Caren together with her grandchildren; Megan Maguire, Enrique Gonzalez, Melanie and Johnny Maguire, and close friends; Michele Sears and the Sears family, Catherine Foley, brother David and his family, surviving cousins; Sue, Mark and Peter Lilley, and friends; Linda and Paul Neiswander, Sylvia Watts and all who knew and loved her.
