Michael Paul Merenda

On Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the age of 59, Michael Paul Merenda Sr. cleared his throat for the final time, and left the Perch. However, he made one stop along his journey to agitate T.S. for the final time. Born November 15, 1959 in Baltimore, MD he was the son of Margaret and the late Paul Merenda. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 30 years, Jennifer (Purvis) Merenda; children: Michael Merenda Jr. and future daughter-in-law Kate McConachie, Nicole (Merenda) Cullum and son-in-law Andrew Cullum; grandchild: Landon; sisters Donna Merenda, Theresa Kline, Denise Casa and her husband Jerome; brother-in-law John (Yvonne) Purvis and Jeff (Debbie) Purvis; mother-in-law and father-in-law Joan and Robert Purvis; nieces, nephews, cousins, other dear relatives, and many incomplete projects. Mike was a romantic, artistic person at heart, but tried to portray a Tony Montana facade. Everyone knew where they stood with him. He either liked you or he didn’t, but most of the time he liked you. Although he left us way too soon and never took a huge payout at the Black Jack table or with a scratch-off lottery ticket, he lived life to the fullest. He rode his bike where he wanted to ride, bowled when he wanted to bowl, laughed loudly at silly movies, learned what he wanted to learn, and fixed/built what his wife wanted him to fix/build. We expect that his faithful girl Harley was wagging her tail and waiting for him at The Pearly Gates to share a Tootsie Roll or two. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Michael Paul Merenda Sr.’s Life on Sunday, May 19 from 2-6 at the VFW Hall located at 8777 Philadelphia Rd, Rosedale, MD 21237. The family encourages everyone to dress comfortably (jeans, shorts, and sports attire) as Mike loved his jean shirts, sports/Harley T’s, and shorts. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Michael Paul Merenda Sr. may be directed to support the Trauma Survivors Network at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
