Mary Ann McAdams

Mary Ann McAdams, was born on February 6, 1950, to Mary Davis and Waymon Lucas in Havre de Grace, MD. She was the oldest of three children. Mary attended and graduated from Bel Air High School in 1968. On January 4, 1969, Mary married the late John William McAdams, Jr. in Belair, MD. Out of this union, four children were born, two daughters and two sons, whom she raised with boundless love, patience, and wisdom. The early years of their marriage was spent being a military family. Being stationed at Andrews Air Force Base brought Mary and John to Prince George’s County in 1971. Mary lived in Prince George’s County for almost 50 years before moving to Hanover, MD in 2020. In October 1978 Mary went to work for Bell Atlantic Corp as an Administrative Assistant. She stayed with the company through multiple mergers and retired from Verizon Communications in July 2010. Mary dedicated her life to caring for others, not only within her family but also within her community where she touched countless lives with her generosity and kindness. Mary was a devoted mother. She enjoyed supporting her children by attending and recording their various performances and games. She was an avid home shopper and QVC was her favorite. Mary spent many years taking water aerobics classes at Prince George’s Community College. At home, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures - spending time with her grandchildren and watching TV. She liked courtroom reality shows (Judge Judy was one of her favorites), Law and Order, I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeannie, The Rifleman, and Leave It to Beaver. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John W. McAdams, Jr and eldest daughter, Nikki McGlone. She is survived by daughter, Kristen McAdams; sons- John (Moana) McAdams and Michael (Valerie) McAdams; grandchildren- Mark, Michael, Madison, Olivia, Savannah, and Alianna; great-grandchild-Kamryn; sister- Diane Lucas; brother Waymon Lucas Jr. and many other relatives and friends. Though she is no longer physically with us, her love, lessons, and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Rest in love, Mom. You will always be our guiding light.
