Marianne Zegowitz

Marianne Zegowitz, 82, passed away on August 31, 2025. She is preceded by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years Vincent Zegowitz, brother John McHale, and parents George and Frances McHale. She is survived by her older brother George, sisters Kathy, Rosie and Janie, her three sons Kurt (Jacy), Eric (Ashley) and Mark (Jenn) and her five grandchildren Ruby, Lane, Tandi, Luke and Mabel. Marianne grew up in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated from St. Francis College in Loretto, PA where she met Vince. As newlyweds, they lived in Eleuthera, Bahamas where she was a school teacher while Vince was stationed at the Navy base. They settled down in Silver Spring, MD and raised their family there before moving to Pasadena, MD where they lived for over 20 years. She was a successful realtor in Maryland and her sons used to cover the local Silver Spring neighborhoods with her flyers. Vince and Marianne were a big part of the St. Bernadette’s community in Four Corners and made many cherished friends from that time. People used to marvel at her ability to put up with Vince and remain the calm sweet person we all knew and loved. They were a perfect match. Their home is remembered for always being open to friends. Marianne loved any reason to bring family and friends together for a celebration. She was happy when she knew other people were happy. She found joy and wonder in the world around her and it was infectious. A fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies, hummingbirds in her gardens, her backyard view looking out over Stoney Creek. A vase of flowers, her family gathered around for a home-cooked meal. Marianne loved the beach, especially their beach house in Kill Devil Hills, NC, with her collections of shells. In addition to Vince, her grandchildren were the love of her life. Nothing made her happier than time with them, baking goodies in her kitchen or taking them to local parks when they were little, and then watching them grow into young adults and supporting all of their interests. “CooCoo” could be counted on to be there for any event. She cherished kid-time on their Pasadena pier - boating, crabbing, kids jumping off the end of the dock, and CooCoo always there with her swim noodle. With their 31’ trawler, the Bony Boy, Vince and Marianne spent as much time exploring the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries as they could, even traveling all the way down to Florida and back via the Intercoastal Waterway for a grand adventure, making many boating community friends along the way. Her treasured overnight boating trips each summer with her grandkids were the highlight of the year for her. Marianne’s passing three weeks after Vince is the ending of a beautiful love story and we are all grateful for their love and so many wonderful family memories. We love you so much, CooCoo and Geez! A Celebration of Life for Vince and Marianne will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Crooked Crab Brewing Company in Odenton, MD from 2:00-5:00 pm.
