Leonard Allen Jones

Leonard (Lee) Allen Jones Lee Jones, 69, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home on September 4, 2024. He was born on August 9, 1955, in Fairbanks, Alaska to the late Wallace M. Jones, Jr and Elaine (Miller) Jones. Lee proudly served in the United States Coast Guard for 20 years, and as a civilian for the Coast Guard for 21 years dedicating his career to the field of Inventory and Supply. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Ann (Fonner) Jones, with whom he shared 49 years of great love and happiness. Lee was a devoted father to his four children, Leanne Potts-Jones (Cara) of Grantville, PA, CJ Jones (Heidi) of Glen Burnie, MD, Sami Althoff (Rob) of Mardela Springs, MD, and Wally Jones (Heather) of Glen Burnie, MD. His brother, James Jones of Lancaster, PA, sister, Lisa Jones of Harrisburg, PA, and aunt, Donna Miller of Wormleysburg, PA. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Caleb Jones, "RP" Althoff, Chloe Jones, Skylar Althoff, Jaylee Potts-Jones, and Kehlani Potts-Jones. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandson, Jekobie Potts-Jones. Lee loved spending quality time with his family, having watched his children grow up into the men and women they are today. He took great pride in all that his grandchildren accomplished from academic excellence, playing basketball, baseball, flag football, and (following in his own footsteps) wrestling. As well as little ones saying his name for the first time. But, he had a little extra twinkle in his eye when watching his softball catcher and softball pitcher play ball and dreaming one day they would be the unstoppable duo. He enjoyed many years of going to the ball field and watching his Orioles play ball, and fond memories of playing softball with his Coast Guard family. He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to his family, and years of service to his country. A memorial service will be held at Baltimore National Cemetery, 5501 Frederick Ave, Catonsville, MD 21228, on Friday, September 20th at 10 AM with the Coast Guard Honor Guard to render honors. A Celebration of Life Lunch after the service will be held from 1130-1700 at the American Legion Post 40, 500 5th Ave SE, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
