Jimmy Moore

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jimmy “BJ” Moore. A beloved son, brother, uncle, teammate, and friend who departed this life September 5th, age 49. He was born August 13, 1976, in Baltimore Maryland to the late Jimmy Sr. and Barbara Moore. He attended Baltimore City Public Schools including Cecil Elementary and Lake Clifton High School. BJ was known for his basketball accomplishments, remarkable talent, leadership, and quiet confidence at a young age. He was dedicated to his sport at Cecil Kirk Recreation where he first began showcasing the skills and passion that would define his basketball journey. He would leave it all on the court. He continued his craft and was a proud graduate of Lake Clifton High School where he wore jersey number 24 as a standout point guard for the Lake Clifton Lakers. He played alongside legendary teammates including Shawnta “Nut” Rogers, Guy Butler, Reggie Frazier, Ronald “Byrd”, Kevin “Stink” Norris, and Terrence Payne. BJ continued his education and athletic career at Delaware State University, furthering both his academic and basketball journey. BJ held various jobs including Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in Baltimore before moving on to positions in 2016 with Amazon in Texas and Seattle. This worked well for him. He was determined to find pleasure in his adventures and employment opportunities. He had an interview in Maryland the day before transitioning. Regardless of where life took him, Jimmy remained true to his character — kind-hearted, dependable, and deeply respected by everyone who knew him. He had a smile that was contagious and a laugh that could capture the attention of an entire room. He had a way of keeping in contact with everyone he loved and no matter the day or time, you can depend on receiving a call from BJ. He made sure to always kept in close contact with his Godmother, Derotha “Pootsie” Spinner, and his Godsister, Dorian Butler. Their bond remained strong throughout his life. He would not miss an opportunity to say, “I love you” and ensure his safety. BJ will be missed. He returned home to Maryland 2 weeks prior to officially returning home. He called everyone he could call, texted everyone he could text, and saw everyone he could see. He reunited with his family and was able to meet his younger family members he had not met previously. He made peace with his family and knew they would be well especially Marty, Shy, Drake, and Lil Brian. He cherished his bonds with his nieces, nephews, and friends.
