Jean Marie Welzel

Jean Marie Welzel, 70, of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away on June 1, 2026, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Born on February 19, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland, Jean spent her life devoted to the people she loved most. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose greatest joy was her family. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kenneth Welzel, and her parents, Eugene and Lorraine Dorr. She is survived by her children, Raymond Welzel (Cindy Welzel), Dolly Hessian (Bryan Hessian), Jean Price (Duane Price), and Benjamin Welzel (Crystal Shoemaker), as well as Kenneth's fiancée, Ashley Fisher, whom Jean loved as family. Jean was a proud and loving grandmother to Jordan Murphy (Dylan Murphy), Courtney Haney (Ryan Haney), Cassie Hessian (Cyle Major), Taylor Welzel (Joe Houston), Raymond Welzel, Brett Price, Hazel Welzel, Wyatt Welzel, Robert Ritchey, and Lily Welzel. She was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to Addisen, Madelyn, and Johnathan Murphy; Rilynn and Grant Haney; and Raelynn Houston. She is also survived by her former husband and the father of her children, Raymond Welzel; her siblings, Margaret Naumann (John Naumann), Charles Dorr (Susanne Dorr), and William Dorr (Dawn Dorr); and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Jean dedicated much of her life to caring for others. As a compassionate caregiver, she provided comfort, kindness, and support to those in need, touching countless lives through her generosity and selfless spirit. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs, Nash and Hank, who brought her endless companionship, comfort, and joy. Jean had a gift for making every holiday feel magical. Family and friends eagerly anticipated her famous chocolate chip cookies, delicious cakes, and unforgettable Thanksgiving dressing, which became treasured traditions around the family table. She poured love into every meal she prepared and every gathering she hosted, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Known for her playful sense of humor, Jean loved teasing her children and grandchildren and always knew how to make those around her laugh. Her warmth, quick wit, and loving nature made every gathering brighter. Family was the center of Jean’s world. She was always there with love, encouragement, guidance, and a helping hand. Whether caring for her children, spoiling her grandchildren, or simply spending time with those she loved, Jean made everyone feel valued and cared for. Jean leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, kindness, and family that will continue through the generations she helped shape. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Forever loved, forever remembered, and never forgotten. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved her.
