James Gordy Beach

James G. Beach III – Beloved Husband and Friend James G. Beach III passed away peacefully as a result of a stroke on Nov. 29, 2018 at age 66. As a practicing attorney for over 35 years in Towson, Jim represented clients in personal injury and workman’s compensation claims. Jim was well respected throughout the legal community and was appreciated and admired by his clients. Jim was born in Salisbury. He lived with his family in Hebron on a farm, where he learned about Eastern Shore values, agriculture, watermen and boating. Jim’s father, James Jr., operated a Chevrolet dealership in Hebron alongside his father James Sr. His mother, Claire, was a popular television personality on a local Salisbury TV station. Around 1960, Jim’s father decided to move to Baltimore to pursue a new career. He earned a law degree and became a well known divorce attorney in Towson. Jim III decided to follow in his father’s footsteps by also pursuing a career in law. Following graduation from Towson High School and Earning a BA in English Literature from the University of Virginia, Jim earned a JD in 1978 from the University of Baltimore Law School. Jim was knowledgeable and enthusiastic boater who loved to explore the Chesapeake Bay with his wife and first mate, Ida, on their 38 foot Sea Ray, “Beach Party.” As a member of Long Beach Marina, Jim and Ida enjoyed weekends socializing with their many friends. He was surrounded by friends and family on his last day. He will be missed for his amazing memory, knowledge of sports and his ability to amuse with trivia facts. He is survived by his wife, Ida, step-daughter, Angela Carne, her husband, Timothy Carne and their son, Nicholas of Timonium, MD. He is also survived by his half-brother Philip Beach of Venice, Florida along with his wife, Rose and daughter, Alex. Visitation will be held at Mountain Christian Church at 1824 Mountain Road, Joppa, MD Walker Chapel from 9 – 11 am on Thursday, December 13, 2018 followed by a memorial service at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of Harford County, MD where Jim and Ida both volunteered their time for their love of animals. Jim’s love of animals was exemplified by the many cats he owned and loved along with their most recent acquisition, a golden doodle puppy named Reggie just days before his stroke.
