Eugene B. Martini

Eugene Bernard Martini, 85, of Millersville, Md. died on October 5, 2017. Eugene was born on October 9, 1931, in Shickshinny, Pa. to the late Victor and Eva Corra Martini. He was the youngest of five children. Eugene married, Barbara Beckley Martini, on April 23, 1955, at the St. Frances Church, in Nanticoke, Pa. They raised their three children together. Eugene, "Gene", was a loving husband, father, and devoted "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a member of St. Bernadette Church, the Knights of Columbus, Westinghouse Fishing Club, and a local square dance group. During his (high school years) he was the quarterback for the football team at Shickshinny High School. Gene served in the US Coast Guard as an EM3 during the time of the Korean War. Gene was a graduate of Penn State University and furthered his education at Johns Hopkins University. He moved his family to Maryland in 1956 for an Electrical Engineering position at Westinghouse Electric Corporation. There he worked on the video camera for the Apollo Mission that landed on the moon. He also enjoyed working as a Pinkerton for the Baltimore Colts football team. Gene retired from Westinghouse after 35 years of employment. Gene enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends, crabbing, fishing, golfing, reading, and Penn State football. He especially enjoyed attending his grand children's sporting events as an avid fan. He and his " beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara", enjoyed their vacations to Ocean City Md., Hilton Head, SC., and their annual visit and stay in Florida with their daughter, Cathy, and her family. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Emmet; his brother, Victor, and Victor's wife, Marion; his brother, George; and his brother-in-law, Jim. Gene is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sister, Mary; and his sister-in-law, Marina. His children: Brian and wife, Joan; Dennis and wife, Denise; and Cathy Natelson and husband, David. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Dennis Jr. and his wife, Kristi; Kristi and her husband, Jon; Kelly and her husband, Sam; Bradley and his fiancé, Jenn; Katelyn, Karlee, Jordan, Eric, and Daniel. His five great grandchildren: Trey, Taylor, Silas, Clara, and Judah. Gene and Barbara's "Legacy of Love". Gene will be forever in our hearts and remember by his laugh that lit up a room…… Your life was a blessing. Your memory is a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. A memorial service will be held Sunday October 15, 2017 at 2:00 at St Bernadette Church, 801 Stevenson Road Severn, MD 21144.
