Elizabeth Samantha Shade-Ware

Liz was born in Caifornia and grew up in the United Kingdom, Iowa, and Maryland. When she was 5 she went to live with her dad at RAF Mildenhall where she affectionately became a member of the ‘Military Brat’ community. There she attended British schools and later American schools on base. She developed a slight accent but it was lost in time after she moved to Maryland with her dad. In 2001 she went to live with her grandparents in Iowa for 2 years and was able to experience the Midwest. Moving back to Maryland she got to know and love her new mom, Stacey. With her mother’s influence she became involved in the performing arts, playing music in the school band, joining the theater group, and becoming a Stage Manager like Stacey. She also became a 1st Sergeant in her Army JROTC unit with loving support from her father. She graduated from Howard High School in 2010 and went to Iowa City, Iowa to start college. There she was very active in the student support groups and made many friends. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Iowa. She used her love of people for her career in caregiving positions. She would come back home to Maryland in the spring of 2021. Her last position was the Activities Coordinator for the Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant. Liz also enjoyed working and playing at the Maryland Renaissance Festival where she learned to knit chainmail. She used her creativity to paint, draw, and build Legos. She was also fond of playing video games like Animal Crossing with her younger sisters. On her days off she could be found at the movies or comic/science fiction conventions. Liz not only loved her human family but her fur family too, adopting dogs Rocket and Sirius Black. Sirius would train to become her service dog and enjoyed visiting the residents at Liz’s work. She will be sorely missed and survived by her parents Russ Ware and Stacey Shade-Ware, her sisters Gabrielle and Bren, her brother Connor, her grandparents Temmie and Ron Shade and Dixie and Travis Martin, her aunts Stephanie Shade, Amanda Martin, Brandie Richmann, her service dog, Sirius and her extended renaissance festival family. Children who sense the rose needs the thorn & run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards sun… And when they’re grown & someone has to speak for those who have no voice May they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the ones.
