Douglas Edward Shepley

Douglas Edward Shepley, 83, of Waynesboro, PA passed away peacefully Monday, November 10, 2025 at Doey's House. Doug was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Shepley, with whom he shared many happy years and a devoted partnership. Born on April 5, 1942, in Clear Spring, Maryland, he was the son of the late Edward and Edna Shepley. Doug spent his formative years in the area and graduated from Clear Spring High School with the Class of 1960. Doug was a dedicated and hardworking man throughout his life. His first job was at the age of 18, working at HL Mills Gas Station. He then spent two years at Corning from 1964 to 1966. For the bulk of his career, Doug was a skilled Steel Press Operator at Pangborn Corp., where he was a valued employee from 1966 until his retirement in 2000. Upon retirement, Doug took on part time work with the Washington County Board of Education and Food Lion. Doug was a member of the Waynesboro Moose Club #1191 for 49 years and a 50 year member of the Clear Spring American Legion Post 222. In his spare time, Doug enjoyed watching Westerns, action movies, and Gold Rush. He enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and going out to eat with his son Mike. Doug also enjoyed playing cards with friends, camping, crabbing, boating and fishing. He is survived by his loving family: his son, Michael Shepley of Maugansville, Maryland; his daughter, Susan Orner, and her husband, Derek, of Arnold, Maryland; and his two grandsons, Brendan Orner of Los Angeles, California, and Cameron Orner of Seattle, Washington. He took great pride in his children and grandsons. A Celebration of Life Service to honor Doug's memory will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kimber Meadows, located at 16204 National Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21740. All who knew and loved Doug are invited to attend and share their favorite memories.
