David Michael Oarr

David’s story begins August 7, 1973 in Landover Hills, Hyattsville, MD. From that day on, he ran full speed ahead in pursuit of knowledge, truth, and justice for all people and animals alike. He was a multi-sport athlete, an artist, a musician, a scientist, and a friend to everyone. He belonged to both Alpha Phi Omega and Alpha Chi Sigma at the University of Maryland. Later, he attended Johns Hopkins University. David’s parents, Jim and Phyllis Oarr, nurtured his passion for learning and compassion toward others. They raised him and his sister, Amy (Oarr) Shoemaker, in a loving Christian home. Their community was close-knit. It’s where they played hide-and-seek in neighbors’ yards and went sledding in the street down the huge hill in front of their house. In his late teens, David entered college and met his wife, Kimberley Charlotte. They became best friends and soulmates who shared similar values and truly enjoyed each other’s company. They married in 1996 and settled in the family-friendly neighborhood of Brookeville. David took extreme pride in his two children, Josephine Gabrielle and Mario Alexander. David and Josie shared a similar sense of humor, and she follows in his footsteps in science research. Hockey trips all over the country were perfect opportunities to strengthen their bond. David and Mario bonded over soccer and science. They loved working side-by-side, especially when serving the entire community building Halloween mazes. David also enjoyed the outings and celebrations with Mario’s partner, Jenny, and their children Jared, David, and Abraham. David’s commitment to making the world a better place is seen in his career and through his relationships with his colleagues and clients. In his early years, he researched cures for HIV at Walter Reed. He transitioned to APCO Worldwide, where he helped people and companies work through difficult situations with integrity. And with Cytimmune, he has connected with many people with cancer while he worked tirelessly to put an end to cancer. David has touched many lives, and we are grateful for the time we shared with him. Though we miss him and the world is lacking a unique, irreplaceable human being, we know that David is in the loving arms of Jesus for all eternity.
