Charlotte Ann Poole

Charlotte Ann Drenning Poole, age 61 of Glen Burnie, Maryland passed away peacefully on Monday, March 15th, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland, due to an illness. She is preceded in death by her husband Michael Poole, father Archie A. Drenning, mother Lettie C. Huffman Drenning and brother Roger Drenning. She is survived by her son Ryan S. Poole and daughter-in-law Sara, brother Donald Drenning and wife Linda, sister Connie Whelchel and husband Bob (deceased), sister Mary Gowombeck and husband Michael. Niece and nephews, Kathy Cass and husband Ken, Bobby Whelchel (deceased), Kenneth Whelchel, Jeffrey Gowombeck and wife Melissa, John Bowen and wife Alex, and Morgan Drenning. Great nephews and nieces, Dylan Whelchel, Ethan Bowen, Eden Rackovan Bowen (deceased), Tristen Rackovan Bowen (deceased), Elena Rackovan Bowen and Lincoln Whelchel. Charlotte, who was known to all, whether family or not, as Aunt char was very active within her community. In her earlier years she was Den Mother for her son Ryan’s Cub Scout troop. She participated in charity work at The United Methodist Church, Pasadena, Maryland where the Cub Scout meetings were held. She also ran the concession stand for the Riviera Beach Baseball League. In the last years of her life Charlotte served as the Treasury Secretary for The American Legion Post #40 located in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Charlotte was a member of the association board for the apartment complex where she lived. She would coordinate and make arrangements for day and overnight bus trips to restaurants, shopping outlets, casinos and Ocean City, Maryland for both The American Legion and seniors who lived in her building. She would organize Bull Roast and donation drives for clothing and essentials for the local AMVETS. She planned yearly Halloween, Christmas, Easter parties and other events for the children and families who belonged to the American Legion Hall. She personally shopped for and wrapped all the presents. When not serving her community Charlotte enjoyed time with her faithful furry companions Paige and Bruce, crafting, bingo, music (Rod Stewart and The Beach Boys were her favorites), traveling and sewing. When she was able, Charlotte would make Halloween costumes for those who needed one or just asked. She liked hanging out with friends at a local restaurant or American Legion Hall watching the Raven's or Orioles' games. More than anything Charlotte loved her family. She would call, asking who was having the next family gathering. If nothing was being planned she would suggest someone “get to it”. She never missed a birthday, birth, wedding or meaningful event in the lives of those she loved. Charlotte would call to check on family and friends no matter what was going on in her own life at the time. She always looked forward to her yearly trip to Ocean City, Maryland with her son Ryan and daughter-in-law Sara, whom she loved very much. Charlotte also loved and talked about her Grand-dog Britain and Grand-cat Hugo. Charlotte will be missed immensely by all who knew her especially her family.
