Betty Alexy Davis

In Loving Memory of Betty Janet Alexy Davis, 91, of Catonsville, Maryland ~ Betty, beloved wife of the late Calvin W. Davis (1990), passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2020, under care of Hospice after an extended period of illness. Born on October 24, 1928, in Center Square, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Alfred K. Alexy, Sr. and Viola M. (Casey) Alexy. The eldest of 4 children, she was preceded in death by her younger sister, Viola Suzanne O’Malley, and 2 younger brothers, Alfred K. Alexy, Jr., and Robert Lee Alexy. Betty is survived by her only daughter, Leslie Somers and husband, Bob Somers, 2 grandchildren, Matthew Somers and wife, Alice, Laura Strobel and husband, Sam, and 2 great grandchildren, Patrick and Charlotte Somers. While in the Military, Betty’s personal service time was spent in Corpus Christi, Texas, from 1951 to 1953. She was also a proud career Naval officer’s spouse of 30 years with tours in Norfolk (Virginia), Great Lakes (Illinois), Pensacola (Florida), and abroad in Balboa, Panama (Fort Amador: Summit, Canal Zone) and Yokosuka, Japan. After receiving her B.S. degree (1964) she began a career as a Medical Technologist and spent 20 years working for the American Red Cross in blood banking in the Tidewater Virginia and Baltimore areas. In her spare time she very much enjoyed reading, spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren, visiting and entertaining family, and traveling. Our family would like to extend our most heartfelt and grateful thanks to the many special people for all of the long term care and kindness shown Mom during her time of need. We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to our family and friends for love and prayers that sustained us along this journey. A private visitation was held. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic restrictions the timing of a memorial service is still to be determined.
