Barbara Jean Lascola

Barbara Jean Lascola ( Sloan ) was born, January 17, 1940 in Virginia to Birchel ( Deceased ) and Virginia Sloan, ( Jackie Starkey ). She left Virginia at an early age to move to Baltimore, Maryland, where she stayed to have her family and live out her life. Till, Sunday evening of June 6, 2021, Barbara passed away at the age of 81 years young after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Some people only walk this earth for a short time, their departure reminds us that there are outside forces watching over us, so she went home joining her heavenly family only to gain her own wings! Barbara knew of angels only to well, when she was a small child she almost died because of an injury to her ankle that got infected with gangrene. With a high fever and not expected to live, she said that angels appeared to her and tried to carry her home. She told them that she wanted to stay with her siblings there at the orphanage where they all were living for a couple of years till their mother was able to care for them again. Some of the simplest pleasures in Barbara’s life brought her great joy. She loved to fish, visiting the mountains from where she came, sewing together dolls of all sorts, Quilting ( that she made for everyone ), crafts, and of course her family! She was a compassionate spirit whose passion was carrying for others. Seems like she always had children in her home too! After raising her kids, she helped raise grandchildren, and even some great grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her 4 Children: Donna Dymond and partner Ed Piotrowski, Clay Bates and Wife Linda Bates, Brenda Dominick and Husband Dean Dominick, Wayne Lascola and his Wife. 6 Grandchildren: Scotty Bates, Jaime Dymond, Mark and Megan Feldman, Drew Becker and Cheyanne Lascola. And 5 Great Grandchildren: Lexi, Faith, Maddison, Jayden, and Trinity. Bruce Lascola, a very special Nephew. Barbara is also survived by 7 Siblings: Earleen and Billy Arrington ( Both Deceased ), Aubrey and Dot Sloan, Marie and Wendell Bragg, Steve Starkey, Gayle Starkey, Joseph Starkey, and Angelia Lazaro. And now her loved ones will continue her legacy by living their lives to the fullest! Barbara also worked at Westinghouse/Northrop Grumman from 1978 through 2004, where she put in for an early retirement to raise her grandchild Cheyanne. There she held the job of photographing contracts and also as a union rep for the S.E.A. Union. Where again she showed support and compassion for her co-workers and friends! A Mother’s Love A Mother’s Love is something That no one can explain. It’s made of Deep Devotion And sacrifice and pain. It is endless and unselfish And enduring come what may, For nothing can destroy it or take that Love away… It’s patient and forgiving When all other’s are forsaking. And it never fails or falters Even though the heart is breaking… It believes beyond believing When the world condemns, And it glows with all the beauty Of the rarest, brightest gems… It is far beyond defining, It defies all explanation, And it still remains a secret Like the mysteries of Creation… A many splendoured miracle Man cannot understand And another wondrous evidence Of God’s tender guiding hand.
