Ann Marie Kellam

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Ann Marie Kellam, 75, of Tracy’s Landing, Maryland, announce her sudden and unexpected passing on August 15, 2024, at 11:35 p.m. Ann experienced unforeseen complications during triple bypass surgery at MedStar’s Washington Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Ann was able to talk with loved ones who surrounded and provided her with comfort as she passed away peacefully in the presence of God. Ann is survived by her faithful and loving husband of 50 years, Donald Kellam (78), her daughter, Diane Brashears (53), grandson, Derick Brashears (29) and his wife, Cheyenne Brashears (28), and three great grandchildren, Greyson Brashears (7), Clairice Brashears (4), and Luca Brashears (2). Forever loved and remembered, Ann is also survived by siblings Joseph Awad, John Awad and Kathleen Awad. Ann was born February 4, 1949, in Washington, D.C. and is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Wanda Awad and, brother, Albert Awad, who she now joins in heaven. Ann was raised alongside her four siblings in Silver Spring, Maryland. She attended Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, Maryland and graduated with the class of 1967. After graduating high school, Ann joined the federal government’s civil workforce dedicating 34 years of excellence in service while working for the National Institute of Health, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and USDA, Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). The majority of Ann’s career was spent working for USDA, ARS in Beltsville, Maryland as a writer on the Congressional Writing Staff. Ann had many passions in life, but none compared to the dedication and love she had for her family, great grandchildren and friends. Ann and her husband, Don spent years sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and together they forged lifelong friendships. This experience solidified their joined passion to buy a home that overlooked the Chesapeake Bay. This dream came true and each morning for the past 25 years, Ann would awake to watch the sunrise on the Chesapeake Bay and enjoy the many hummingbirds that came to gather around her feeders. Ann and Don also took time to travel in their motorhome. Ann impacted so many people’s lives leaving an everlasting impression on their hearts with her amazing big smile, genuine laugh, unbridled joy for living, compassion and empathy and love for animals but, most important, her unwavering love for family and friends. She will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
