Andrea Maria Porter

Andrea Maria Porter was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 01, 1954 to the late Charlotte Norton (nee Porter) and the late Robert Hatchett. Andrea (Bobbie) was a daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, cousin, and friend. She graduated from Overlea Senior High in 1972. She also attended Essex Community College. Andrea worked at Wendell Textiles in the mid to late 1970s. She then worked as a 911 operator for the Police Department on Kenilworth Avenue in Towson. This was a job Bobbie loved and one that she would retire from. Bobbie loved to read. She crocheted beautiful afghans for each newborn in the family. She loved family get-togethers, dancing, singing, decorating for Christmas, making sweet potato and Jewish apple cakes. She loved her manicures! She went on road trips with Uncle Frank and Aunt Alice and her cousin David. She went to New York after high school graduation with her cousin Debbie. Bobbie held sewing clubs with her sister and cousins when they were young. Bobbie and her best friend from high school vacationed many summers in Puerto Rico. She loved telling stories, watching Law and Order episodes and just about anything to do with identifying criminals and solving mysteries. She LOVED Tom Jones. She loved cigarettes, diet Pepsi and ice. Though she had none of her own, Bobbie loved children. She was heavy on spoiling, light on discipline. She was a godmother to her nephew Ryan and her cousin Jennifer. On Monday, December 11, 2017, Bobbie found peace after a long illness. She leaves to cherish her memory: her sister, Darlene Porter, and brother, Robert Porter; nieces Sherris Bowen, LaToya Porter, Krista Porter, India Brown; nephews Ryan Franklin, Kyle Franklin, Robert Stockton Porter, and Isaiah Puryear; four aunts: Mary Porter, Edith Porter, Alice Porter, and Rose Porter; two uncles: Charles Porter and James Lucas; close cousins Priscilla Eley, Jamie Sparrow, Jason Sparrow, Deborah Cody, and Jennifer Chin, Middle River cousins: David Porter, James Porter, Lionel Porter, Simon Porter and Phillip Porter; many more cousins and a host of other relatives, in-laws and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hatchett, and her mother, Charlotte Norton. Andrea’s remains will be cremated according to her wishes. A celebration honoring her life will be held at a later date. The family gratefully acknowledges the many kind and beautiful expressions of sympathy and love shown during this time of bereavement. Welcome Home Sister You were the apple of your mama’s eye. Despite the tears of those you leave behind, You are once again by your mama’s side. Though we celebrate your reunion bliss, Know that here you will be sorely missed. You are refreshed, restored, renewed. Thirst, hunger, hurt, and fear are no more. Heart joyous, spirit set to soar..
