Alicia Louise James

Alicia Louise James (née Kerdock) peacefully departed our physical realm from her home in Ten Hills on Monday, October 26, 2020, at the age of 73. Daughter of the late Frances and Daniel Kerdock, she is survived by her sister, Arlene Berlin; nephew, Russell Berlin and Carolyn & Max; niece, Diane Cockerel and Molly & Jordan; and first cousins: Tony Rizzutti; Rocky Rizzutti and Sarah, Tony, & Nick; and Laura Bergstrom and Andrew, Olivia, Arianna, Elena, & Sean. She was predeceased by uncle Walter Kraussman, aunt Louise Snyder, uncle Al Rizzutti, and by her beloved cousin, Teri Rizzutti. Loved by many, she’ll be particularly missed by her closest friends: Barbara, Bobbie & Terry, Claudette & Joe, Donna, Kenny, Maureen, Michael, Sandy, and Steve. A native of Baltimore City, Alicia also spent significant periods of her life in Arbutus, Eldersburg, and Catonsville’s Academy Heights. But, it was always the beaches of Ocean City and Delaware that called to her. Ultimate happiness was a stay at the Dunes Manor and a tub of Fisher’s Caramel Popcorn. She loved Barry Manilow (a lifelong crush), the Weather Channel, and dogs, especially her “four-legged kids”: Munchie, Heidi, and Chewy as well as hot dogs from Home Depot. She was proud of her Lithuanian heritage and grateful for a successful career in Federal Service. Although she faced the challenges of a severe blood disorder, seasonal allergies, and infrequent snow storms, Alicia always found inspiration to stay positive and greet each day with a cheerful smile. Because of her enormous sense of humor, a penchant for starting food fights, and the ability to empathetically listen, multiple generations of family affectionately regarded her as the coolest relative ever, bestowing her with nicknames such as “Auntie Tootie” and “EEAAHH.” However, her concern for the welfare of others was her defining characteristic. Beginning with an internship as a teenage hospital “Candy-striper,” Alicia always knew she had a gift for comforting and caring, and she shared that gift selflessly throughout her life with the people she loved, not to mention the wildlife and strays in the neighborhood. Alicia, we love you! We are blessed with your memories and cherish every moment that you enriched our lives.
